Sustainability & Fabrics

The SaccoStyle collection is made and designed in London, reducing air miles in the production line where possible.

Our collection has been produced by a local fashion studio in London who have been brilliant in helping us source the most environmentally friendly materials. The fashion studio has a zero-waste approach to garment production.

Our clothing is made out of sustainable fabrics. We aim to reduce waste where possible and our hair ties are made from the leftover fabric from our swim and clothing production. We are in the process of sourcing a sustainable metal toggle for the bikini and dress straps, whilst the toggles don't contain plastic we would like to find the least damaging metal to our planet and source the material - it's all a process but we are getting there.

We are dedicated to providing as sustainable pieces as possible in our collection. We have sourced ethically made and eco-friendly materials throughout the production process. Our clothing and packaging are eco-friendly. Our models, photographer, and branding expert also have a dedicated interest in making the world a better place. We aim to keep sustainability and sophistication at the heart of everything we do. When you buy from us, you're supporting the movement to unite our planet and the fashion industry.

Our eco-friendly fabrics combine style and sustainability

Organic Cotton

Today's cotton farming accounts for 25% of the worlds use of insecticides. These chemicals are extremely harmful to our planet, people and animals. Chemical pesticides found in cotton linger in the atmosphere, the ground and our waterways for long periods. We decided to use organic cotton for our fabric thread and shopper/drawstring bags. Organic cotton is cotton that is made to organic agricultural standards. Its production sustains the health of soils, our planet and people by using natural processes rather than artificial inputs. Importantly organic cotton farming does not involve toxic chemicals or GMOs.

Organic Bamboo

The raw material is 100% organically grown bamboo (OCIA certification for international standards, NOP for USA standards) from sustainably managed bamboo forests (FSC certification). Our Bamboo pieces use Oeko-test 100 class (standard) colour dye. The fabric conforms to Oeko-Tex Class 1 Standards and is safe for all uses. The use of harmful metals and chemicals in the manufacturing process is strictly controlled and uses a closed-loop system. Bamboo fibres are bio-degradable. As a natural cellulose fibre, it can be completely biodegraded in soil by microorganism and sunshine and does not cause any pollution to the environment.

SaccoStyle has used organic bamboo for its silk-like texture. A vegan silk alternative, letting silkworms live their entire life without boiling them alive to turn their cocoon into silk. Standard (non-vegan) silk is made by mass cultivation of silkworms which are eventually then boiled and killed alive. It takes 1700 to 2000 cocoons to make 1 silk dress. Switching to more eco-friendly alternatives can help spare silk worms' lives and allow them to use their wings for nature's intended purposes.

Vita by Carvico: ECONYL®

Our SaccoStyle swimwear collection is made from Vita by Carvico: ECONYL®. Vita by Carvico is a sustainable techno-fabric, made of ECONYL® regenerated Nylon that turns waste into fashion and interior designs.

Vita is versatile, hyper-resistant, thin, stretch, soft and breathable: a unique mix of muscular compression and comfort. Its unique and innovative construction is twice as resistant to chlorine and suntan creams/oils than competitors’ fabrics. A yarn sourced from Italy, created from unwanted waste, such as fishing nets pulled from the ocean and fabric scraps leftover from industry.

ECONYL® reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 90% compared with the material from oil. Its sustainable techno-fibre performs the same as brand new nylon but provides an eco-friendly, innovative alternative, cleaning our oceans and turning trash into treasure.
